The individual in this position will do work activities associated with the operation, maintenance, and repair of the water treatment plant facilities of the Southwest Pipeline Project (SWPP), a regional water delivery system serving municipal, rural and industrial water user entities. The Southwest Water Authority (SWA) is responsible for management, operations, and maintenance of the SWPP. The SWA is a political subdivision led by a 15-member Board of

Directors.

Essential Functions

1. Assist operations personnel with snow removal, building maintenance, cleaning, painting, mowing, and any other associated tasks at the water treatment facilities..

2. Assist operations personnel with operation and maintenance of water treatment facilities including servicing of pumps, motors, valves, generators, and other incidental pipeline equipment.

3. Assist with minor cleaning and maintenance at the O&M office.

4. Deliver and pick up mail at the O&M office.

5. Become familiar with SWPPs adopted safety guidelines and utilize same in workplace.

6. Perform other activities as might be required or requested from time to time.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

1. Willing to become familiar with the SWA rules, regulations, policies, and procedures in order to perform duties efficiently.

2. Ability to communicate and deal tactfully with customers and general public.

3. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with SWA staff.

4. Ability to work independently and efficiently.

5. Ability to coordinate work schedule to obtain optimum efficiency.

Typical Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands

1. Requires working with equipment such as lawn mowers, weed whackers, small power tools, and other incidental equipment.

2. Requires finger dexterity, hearing, vision, and the ability to do close work.

3. Requires the ability to read, write, and maintain daily work diary.

4. Daily, requires the ability to work courteously and firmly with others.

Supervision

5. This position is under the general supervision of the Water Treatment Plant Manager and under the direct supervision of full-time staff Water Treatment Operators.

6. Water Treatment Operations staff and Assistant Manager reviews completed work.

Guidelines

Guidelines consist of operations, equipment, and safety manuals. The Maintenance Worker exercises judgment in selecting applicable procedure and decides varied matters. In situations where guidelines do not apply, the Maintenance Worker will refer questions to the supervisor for assistance.

Complexity

Work consists of duties that involve various related steps, processes, or methods. Actions to be taken or responses to be made differ depending upon the situation involved. Assignments and tasks are usually standardized.

Personal Contacts

Contacts are with co-workers within the SWA, customers, and the general public.

Purpose of Contacts

The purpose of the contacts is to obtain, clarify, give facts, or exchange information directly related to the SWA. Contacts with customers and the public often require exceptional tact and judgment. To ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, the Maintenance

Worker must frequently coordinate and effectively deal with supervisors, co-workers, and others.

Education and Experience

7. High School diploma.

8. Must have valid ND drivers license.

9. Minimum of six months experience with small power equipment and tools.

This is a permanent full-time position headquartered in Dickinson, but might require travel to facilities included the O&M office..

Salary

This is a full-time, non-exempt position with standard benefit package.
