CCC. Civilian Conservation Corps Foot Locker- trunk. 1930s

The Great Depression threw millions of Americans out of work. Life was miserable for rural and worse for city dwellers. Especially hard hit were young men just starting their work careers. They grew angry, frustrated at no job, no work, no money. Pres Roosevelt started a program that sent huge numbers of unemployed to underdeveloped middle of America. Gave them Room, board, a shovel and $1 day, some of their pay had to go home to their Mom and Dad. CCC gave them a metal foot lockers for all their belongings. It was an amazing Public Works Project that pumped money back into circulation that helped Make America Great Again.

These CCC footlockers are exceedingly rare 90-95 years later. This one belonged to my mothers second husband. It is in dandy condition, missing only the insert tray for socks, shaving stuff, underwear etc. really rare are the leather end handles. I tried to give you a photo from all angles. it is metal, heavy and remarkably good shape. It has not been cosmetically restored or repaired or reproduced. Use your search engine to see how CCC ANTIQUES-Collectibles material is left. GREAT DISPLAY ITEM FOR ANTIQUE DEALER or memory for grandparent. Shipping , insurance etc iruns $165 to any place in the Lower 48.
