I have a 5th wheel. Hertitage glen 286 RL. It has a dry weight of 8400. This truck has absolutely no problems with the camper. Ive towed it on long trips, through mountains and every other type of conditions (high winds, etc). Never had a problem.
We've travel extensively with a couple who have a duramax diesel gmc 2500 series and we get identical milage. He cant believe how well my truck pulls my camper with ease. Believe me I wouldnt be getting rid of this truck if it werent for me getting a significantly heavier camper. I love this truck. It's also a great daily driver!
Just the little boo-boo on the rear right cab when the camper made contact with the truck on a tight uturn. I never fixed it. It didnt take out the window thankfully. But needless to say I wasnt happy. It happened on my trip home from picking up the camper. Arg! I have a slider hitch which I use if I ever need to make tight U-turns but didnt use it on that occasion . I use the slider all the time when backing - it gives me nearly 90 degrees camper to truck. If interested in the slider hitch (companion to the installed gooseneck hitch), let me know.
With the max trailer tow package option you get the 3.55 electronic lock axle and combined with 3.5l eco boost your towing capacity is 13,500 lbs (according to Ford). Add in the air lift and youve got yourself something nearly equivalent to a super duty. It works really well for my setup.
