Description: The City of Bismarck is seeking to fill one of the Following Positions:

Fleet Technician I

Hiring Salary Range: $53,643.06 to $60,348.43 (Hourly Hiring Range $25.79/hr to $29.01/hr)

Requirements:

Recent graduate of a related collegiate trade school in automotive technology or diesel technology

Experience preferred, not required.

Fleet Technician II

Hiring Salary Range: $56,358.73 to $63,403.58 (Hourly Hiring Range $27.10/hr to $30.48/hr)

Requirements:

Current ASE Master Technician Certification in Automotive and/or Truck categories

Emergency Vehicle Certified Technician, Law Enforcement and/or Fire Apparatus backgrounds

Minimum 2 years work experience required.

Class B with air brake endorsement or more. Preferred, not required.

Typical hours/days: 8:00am-4:30pm Mon-Fri. Hours & days will vary with weather events and emergencies. Traits required to succeed in this role: self-starter, work independently with minimum supervision, problem solver, and work as a member of a team. Job duties include, but are not limited to, mechanical repair & maintenance of city vehicles and equipment. Troubleshoots & diagnoses malfunctions, perform corrective maintenance in a variety of vehicles, equipment and trucks. Performs field repairs as needed..

Qualifications

High school and trade school with course work in automotive or diesel/industrial technology from a qualified technical school or two years experience as a mechanic.

A valid Class B North Dakota drivers license with air brake endorsement is required within one (1) year of accepting employment.

ASE Certification in two of the following areas will be mandatory within one (1) year of accepting employment: Either Auto/Light Truck: Suspension and Steering, Brakes or Electrical/Electronic Systems or Medium/Heavy Truck: Suspension and Steering, Brakes, or Preventative Maintenance.
